Rapinoe played for Sydney Football Club FC in the Australian W-League for a couple games before she returned to America. Next, she played with Seattle Washington Sounders Women. Seattle Washington Sounders Women (now the Sound FC). Rapinoe spent the 2013 soccer season in France. After the WPS was disbanded the team was renamed Seattle Reign FC (now OL Reign) of the National Women's Soccer League NWSL. Rapinoe eventually rose to the post of captain, and was one of the club's top scorers. Her efforts have helped the U.S. team win consecutive Women's World Cup championships in the years 2015 and 2019. In 2018, she was appointed cocaptain. Rapinoe, who was a goal scorer for United States in the 4-3 win over Australia at the Olympics bronze medal match at Tokyo in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic that Japan had to delay until 2021 because from this epidemic, also took home the gold medal in Tokyo in 2016.
